MD: Macomb County Clerk's Office receives national recognition for first time in four years6/22/2020
The Macomb County Clerk & Register of Deeds Office recently won four Achievement Awards from the annual National Association of Counties, the first NACo recognition in four years.
The office, under the director of Clerk Fred Miller, won awards for its senior hotline in the Human Services category, centennial farms program in Arts, Culture Historic Preservation, and Clerk’s corner intranet and virtual Clerk’s Office in Administration and Management. MACOMB COUNTY — Lake Shore High School senior Kayla McCuen was recently awarded the top prize in Macomb County’s inaugural “I Voted” sticker design contest. Macomb County Clerk/Register of Deeds Fred Miller said a total of 525 entries were submitted from students in 14 Macomb County school districts, as well as private and home-schooled students. A total of 64 entries were selected as finalists, ultimately reviewed remotely by a panel of judges that included judges from the Macomb County Circuit Court, members of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, city and township clerks, and representatives from the Macomb Intermediate School District and the county arts community. Some 270 Macomb County residents seeking a first-time Certified Pistol License were put on hold for three months due to COVID-19. But starting next week they will be able to achieve their goal. County Clerk Fred Miller will reopen the Clerk’s Office vital records offices to the public for first-time applicants who were not able to submit their information while county buildings were closed during the state Stay at Home executive order. “It’s a big step forward, and we’re excited to do it,” Miller said. MACOMB COUNTY — Even a global pandemic does not obstruct the flow of records and information. Just ask Macomb County Clerk/Register of Deeds Fred Miller and his staff. Elected in 2018, Miller vowed to restore what at the time was a fractured office with inconsistent customer service. That included initial signage changes, customer service kiosk updates and a refreshed, more streamlined website that could provide citizens with easier access when it came to obsolete forms or personal information. |
